EIHL fixtures: Scottish rivals to lock horns in Challenge Cup opener

Dundee Stars and Fife Flyers will meet in the Challenge Cup on 6 September in the opening fixture of the 2025-26 Elite Ice Hockey League season.

The Scottish rivals will renew their fierce rivalry at Dundee Ice Arena, with the return fixture scheduled for the following evening in Kirkcaldy as both sides look to establish early bragging rights.

Last season the Stars went 8-1-0, outscoring the Flyers 46-19 across all competitions. However, with new owners and a new-look squad in place at the Fife Ice Arena, Fife will be looking for a reset that dynamic this season.

Reigning champions Belfast Giants begin their title defence against Dundee Stars on 13 September as Adam Keefe’s side look to retain the Elite League and Challenge Cup double they claimed last term.

Sheffield Steelers will seek immediate redemption from last season’s disappointment when they visit Guildford Flames on opening night. The 2023-24 grand slam winners have retained key personnel including defenceman Colton Saucerman and forward Mark Simpson in their bid to reclaim the crown.

Manchester Storm will welcome Coventry Blaze to the Storm Shelter, while Nottingham Panthers entertain Cardiff Devils in another headline fixture from the opening weekend slate.

Glasgow Clan complete Scotland’s representation when they face the Flyers on 13 September, with all three Scottish clubs immediately thrust into competitive action.

The Challenge Cup will maintain its group stage format this season, with opening weekend results contributing towards knockout round qualification.
